I don’t know much about virus and trojan, but please, all take precautions, because today as I installed Flock I got the following message from AntiVir guard:
C:\PROGRAM FILES\FLOCK\UNINST.EXE
Is the Trojan horse TR/Dldr.IstBar.LU
I hope it is nothing serious and I am really admiring the work of the Flock guys. So I suppose it will be fixed soon. In the meantime use maximum protection and update your antivirus if you want to use Flock.
ADDENDUM: I updated the antivirus file, then left it in the night to check for the whole system. It found no virus inside of any kind. In the morning I reinstalled flock after a couple of comments from people (in the comments section) who tested it with other antivirus files and found no trace of Trojan. So I would say that it was probably a false positive. I really hope so, since I am going try it myself. Sorry for the unnecessary allarmistic post.

Hello. Is this really true on the 0.5 Developer’s Preview? Thanks–

Eh… I am in doubt of your antiviral application, since mine returned negatives from the start.
Perhaps, the best question is, did you download your copy from anywhere other than Flock’s servers?
I’ve scanned my system as well and had no returns for an types of virus or trojans.
Only install Flock if you personally downloaded the file from Flock servers.
Thanks for your comments. Of course I downloaded Flock only from the official Flock servers! Cam’on!
Xial, I hope it is a false positive. I learned about AntiVir Guard from del.icio.us and generally seem to have received (until now) only good references from the geeck community. Also it didn’t just say that there was some ‘dangerous’ code, but could say precisely what was the trojan inside.
I went to look at the google page for the trojan specification and Lo and Behold: most of the pages are in German. Now I am in Germany right now, but my google is set up to use google.com, not google.de. Maybe the trojan is spread mainly locally, and the program catched it in the download phase from the University servers. Would that be possible?
Mah.
